Preventative Health

Using exercise as medicine, addressing risks before they become problems, supporting healthy ageing, and helping you stay active and support you long-term.

Reduces risk of chronic disease: Regular exercise helps prevent conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers.

Supports mental wellbeing: Physical activity lowers stress, anxiety, and depression while improving mood and cognitive function.

Promotes long-term function and independence: Strengthens muscles, bones, and balance to maintain mobility and prevent falls as we age.

Preventative Health

Preventive health in exercise physiology focuses on using exercise as medicine, addressing risks before they become problems, supporting healthy ageing, and helping you stay active and support you long-term.

Preventive Health in Depth

Preventive health isn’t about waiting for health problems to arise, it is about proactively maintaining and improving your body’s function, strength, and resilience through evidence-based exercise. It’s about supporting your long-term wellbeing, independence, and quality of life, no matter your age, stage of life, size, or fitness level.

Through exercise physiology, preventive health can include:

  • Protecting against chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis.
  • Supporting every stage of life with safe, tailored exercise for people of all ages, body types, and abilities.
  • Improving balance and stability to reduce the risk of falls and maintain independence.
  • Enhancing mental wellbeing and energy through movement that supports focus, mood, and cognitive function.
  • Promoting healthy ageing with confidence by maintaining strength, bone health, and mobility for everyday life.
  • Optimising workplace health with strategies to reduce strain, improve posture, and manage stress.

Don’t wait for a health issue to arise, evidence suggests that starting with just 11 minutes of daily activity can significantly reduce your risk of chronic diseases and improve overall health.

Type of Exercise

  1. Strength Training - Keep your muscles and bones strong, protecting your joints, and supporting everyday movement. It can seem intimidating at first, but working with an Exercise Physiologist will ensure your personalised program is safe and effective so you can build strength confidently and enjoyably.
  2. Aerobic / Cardiovascular Exercise - Keep your heart and lungs healthy, boosts energy, and lowers the risk of chronic diseases. We help you find activities you enjoy and can stick with, and combine them with strength training for a balanced, effective approach.

What do we Offer?

We will discuss a plan that best suits your needs.  We have several options we can continue to work with you whilst overseeing your program.

  1. Direct 1-on-1 ongoing supervision – Work privately with your Exercise Physiologist to ensure correct exercise technique, direct support, and continual progression toward your strength and conditioning goals.
  2. Small group classes - Share the time and space with 1–2 others while continuing your personalised program. Each person follows their own tailored plan — you’ll simply be sharing the environment and support.
  3. Program prescription - If you’re confident completing your program independently, come in for reviews as needed so we can assess your progress and make adjustments when appropriate.
